5th Annual National Night Out.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006
For the 6th year the Overland Park Coalition Against Drug Crime
hosted the National Night Out. National Night Out is a way to meet
your neighbors and government agencies who have worked to fight crime in our
neighborhood.
Several agencies of the Sheriff's
Department came out to show their support. Here is one of their Search and
Rescue vehicles.
The party is just getting started.
People are gathering to enjoy the evening.
Some hungry people waiting for the
food. Many thanks to Applebee's for the ribs. Yum! And thanks
to Kendall Market for the hot dogs. Yum Yum!
Here is an example of how hard our county
government works for our neighborhood. Cooking the ribs (front) is Senior
Assistant District Attorney Dave Paul. Behind him on the right is County
Commissioner Bill Kennemer cooking the hot dogs.
It was the Coalitions privilege to honor
Dave Paul for his outstanding service to our community. We presented him
with an award that we hope he will place on his desk to to remind him our our
gratitude for all he has done for our community.
The band is always a big hit at National
Night Out. The "Hip Waders" played for us all evening.
The Sheriff's Posse is always a big hit
with the kids.
Giggles the Clown had a line of kids all
night painting faces.
The SWAT vehicle, "Bear Cat",
stopped by.
The Fire Department came out to train some
future firemen. Firegirl in this case.
We can always count on Clackamas Fire
District #1 to support us.
Funding of the event is done mostly by the generous donations of
area businesses.
